Proto Laminations Inc. was founded in 1989 with one purpose in mind: To produce high quality motor laminations in the quickest, most efficient manner possible. Laminations are small, detailed parts produced from a range of thin sheet stock such as silicon iron or cobalt alloys for generating electricity in motors. Proto Laminations specializes only in laminations, so they are committed to doing whatever it takes to satisfy even the most demanding requirements. Proto Laminations’ parts come in a tremendous variety of sizes, materials, and configurations. They are cut from thin sheet metals and require extremely high precision.
Proto Laminations knew that in order to meet their customers' needs, flexibility was a key ingredient for success. They take great care in selecting their equipment based on the ability to contribute to quality performance. To create their parts, Proto Laminations was using dies, but dies are time-consuming and expensive to make. They wanted to have the capability to quickly create prototypes. They also really needed a machine that could give them precise power control to maintain the dimensions of their laminations, anywhere from under .375 inch to 36 inches in diameter.
Based on their high performance criteria, Proto Laminations selected a Beam Dynamics laser machine. With a laser, they can cut very fine detail and receive the high precision required for their many parts. They can easily create prototypes, and can even make fast changes to a job without retooling or having to pay for new dies to be created. The result: High quality parts, reduced time to market, a better final product, and complete customer satisfaction.
